hah, don't worry, LL, I tend to intellectualize my Christianity far too much, and most of this is just my own analogy/suppositions and could be *way* off the mark. I don't think you are a heathen at all! I just found it interesting and thought I'd be brave and share my thoughts, after deleting much more innocuous ones posted earlier.. Go figure. It sounds like an interesting read!Read More...

Yeah that is a great book. One of my old Ts contributed to that book. Though her contribution (which was her snippets from her doctoral thesis) was great, she was a horrible therapist. lol. Also her contribution was small. So I can set that aside and say that yes that book was great to read.Read More...
Yaku, Well, I can't say for sure, but I did feel overall that the book was very validated. It is very scientific in parts and certainly what I'm experiencing is pretty well laid out in the book. It talked about different ways to substantiate memories etc., some of which I've done at some point. I haven't fully finished it yet, but it was helpful as an adjunct to all of the other stuff that I've read.Read More...
AG thanks for taking the time to explain that (I hope you got a good night’s sleep too!) It all makes perfect sense and you’ve explained the difference between countertransference and PI nicely so that even I understand it now (I think!). I guess it still bothers me the ‘projective’ part of it – I can understand how unacknowledged or unowned feelings can be picked up by someone else (your thrumming explanation makes that very easy to understand!) – but the stuff I’ve read about PI implies...Read More...
I like this: "Despair asks us to find meaning in the midst of apparent chaos or meaninglessness. Making meaning out of suffering is the basis for the human capacity to survive evil and transcend it." "the purpose of these dark emotions (fear despair and grief) is evident when we can experience them mindfully, tolerate their intense energies, and let them be." She talks a lot about our "emotion-phobic" culture that teaches us to suppress anything painful rather than just let it be. she says...Read More...
Mama, Thanks for the recommendation. I've read both their Boundaries and Boundaries in Marriage and found them very helpful. I read Boundaries literally decades ago and was totally clueless about them, it's one of the best books on the subject I've ever read. But I haven't read this one, I'll have to check it out.
