I appreciate the input. I will check out the links. I too tried talk therapy for 2 1/2 years and left disappointed. Frowner It was nice to have someone to talk to, but I expected some personal improvement would result.

I have read some remarkable stuff about working directly with the subconscious, and have located someone I think I am going to work with. I am guardedly optimistic. I kept trying to make talk therapy work, and was pretty convinced I was the problem. Confused I am pretty certain now, after reading Dr. LaCombe's material, it wasn't just me.

koi, i am sure this is an impossible question, but what kind of 'term' does this take? curious about it as compared to dbt, which what i do like about that, is the focus on bodily sensations and how the fight or flight gets pricked with triggers. seeing and feeling the body and understanding how that affects the 'rest of the story' in the trigger seem to be putting two and two together for me in a way that talk therapy has not done. ever.

i'll read more on those links, just browsed the first few....some really beautiful stuff written from therapists on how this works...didn't find a therapist on the first or last link in my city, but really curious. because all this stuff i do makes no sense. my logic is SOUND, it is just my emotions are so primal, and bypass my logic in milliseconds and all i am left with is my primal ways of avoiding pain.

and strm, you mentioned this to me before, so thanks for posting those links to remind me. sounds quite powerful.

You need to follow the path that works best for you. I haven't settled on my path yet and i am not a good source of information or guidance.
